Guidance on righteousness, prayer, and the responsibilities of Ansarullah

Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad - Khalifatul Masih V (a.b.a)

September 29, 2025

In the name of Allah, the Gracious, the Merciful.
All praise belongs to Allah, Lord of all the worlds. The Gracious, the Merciful. Master of the Day of Judgment. Thee alone do we worship and Thee alone do we implore for help. Guide us in the right path The path of those on whom Thou hast bestowed Thy blessings, those who have not incurred displeasure, and those who have not gone astray.

First of all, I would like to inform you that today, the Ansarullah gathering in Canada and the Ansarullah gathering in Burkina Faso are also being held here and they are also participating here directly. In the Ahmadiyya Jama'at of the Promised Messiah, on whom be peace, you, i.e. the Ansar, are those people who have reached the age of maturity in terms of their age, thinking and experience. In this regard, it can be said that you should be a role model for the Jama'at. Therefore, you should ponder over whether you are a role model for those who have attained the true standards of Bai'at or are trying to attain them. If not, then this is a very difficult matter because it is only by looking at your example that the future generations will reform themselves or look at their weaknesses. Thus, it is a very big responsibility that is upon the Ansar and its fundamental condition is righteousness. If we are righteous, then we will be saved from many evil and we will also fulfil the right of Bai'at, which we have pledged after joining hands with the Promised Messiah, on whom be peace. We will also fulfil our pledge.

The Foundation of Righteousness

Regarding righteousness, the Promised Messiah, on whom be peace, says that one should adopt righteousness. Righteousness is the root of all things. The meaning of righteousness is to abstain from every minor sin. Righteousness means that one should also abstain from all forms of evil. The Promised Messiah, on whom be peace, says that the heart is like a great river from which small streams flow. Small streams flow from the heart as well. For example, there is the tongue or some other organs. If the water of a small river is polluted and dirty, then it can be assumed that the water of a large river will also be polluted. Thus, if one observes that a part of the tongue, hands or feet is impure, then it can be assumed that the heart is also impure. Thus, this is the standard of righteousness which we should adopt. When we adopt this standard, we will also fulfil the pledge of allegiance. We will also try to act upon it. Thus, we should see to what extent we are striving to attain this. When we are doing this, then as I have said, we will become a role model for others.

Conditions of Bai'at

The Promised Messiah, on whom be peace, took the Bai'at from us under many conditions. The first and foremost condition was that one should abstain from Shirk. Shirk is such a thing which Satan creates in our hearts through various means which we are not even aware of. Thus, we should carefully assess that we are not involved in any form of Shirk. The Promised Messiah, on whom be peace, has said that Tauheed is not only about saying La Ilaha Illa Allah from one's mouth and having thousands of idols in one's heart. In fact, a person who gives importance to his status, deceit, deception and planning to God Almighty or trusts in a person who should have faith in God Almighty or gives importance to one's self which should be given to God Almighty, in all these cases, according to God Almighty, he is idol-worshipping. An idol is not only that which is made of gold, silver, brass or stone and one trusts in them. In fact, everything that is said or done, which should be given importance and which is the right of God Almighty, is an idol in the sight of God Almighty. Thus, Shirk is that fine definition which we should always keep in mind and should ponder over it. In today's world, being engulfed in the atmosphere of this world and being engulfed in the thoughts of the world, we say many things which are known as hidden Shirk. Thus, every Ahmadi in general and every Nasir should pay special attention to this because their age is such that along with increasing in age, they are entering the last stage of their life and after which there is the next world. Therefore, one should always ponder over the fact that are we free from all kinds of hidden Shirk? Are all our actions and deeds in accordance with the pleasure of God Almighty? Are all our actions based on righteousness?

Abstaining from Falsehood

Then, the Promised Messiah also said to those who take the Bai'at that they should abstain from lying. Lying is a very big sin. God Almighty states in the Holy Qur'an, that you should abstain from lying. In other words, you should abstain from falsifying idols and from lying. In a Hadith, the Holy Prophet Muhammad said, that there are four things in which it is found that he is a pure hypocrite and if there is even the slightest bit of hypocrisy in him to the extent that he abandons it, then only will he be free from hypocrisy. These are the four things. Number one is that when he speaks, he uses falsehood as an excuse. In other words, he is adding falsehood to his words. When he makes a treaty, he is a traitor. Many people should assess themselves as to how many treaties they make and then they do not act upon them. They go to court. The third thing is that when he makes a promise, he breaks it. This is also a type of falsehood. Firstly, there are treaties which are written in writing, there are business treaties, there are treaties in trade, or there are treaties in other matters. A person is making certain promises which may seem ordinary, but they are very important. Both of these things lead to hypocrisy. Then the Holy Prophet said that when he argues, he uses foul language. The fourth thing is that all of these things are related to falsehood. A person is a liar who does such things. Therefore, we should seek the truth in the finest of matters. We should seek the truth in the finest of matters. It is mentioned in a narration that the Holy Prophet said, Truth guides to virtue and virtue guides to paradise. Avoid falsehood because falsehood leads to disobedience and disobedience leads to hell.

The Promised Messiah, on whom be peace, also said that the Holy Qur'an has declared falsehood to be a type of impurity. As I have just read the verse, that is, Look, here falsehood is compared to idol. In reality, falsehood is also an idol. Otherwise, why does it leave the truth and go to the other side? Just as there is no reality beneath the idol, similarly, there is nothing beneath falsehood. The trust of those who speak falsehood diminishes to such an extent that even if they speak the truth, they feel that there is no adulteration of falsehood in it. If those who speak falsehood desire that their falsehood diminishes, then it does not go away quickly. They practice for a long time. Only then do they develop the habit of speaking the truth. They have to make a lot of effort. Therefore, those who have the habit of speaking falsehood, regarding them, the Promised Messiah, on whom be peace, has said that even if they speak the truth, people consider it to be falsehood.

Importance of Prayer

A very important and fundamental matter for an Ahmadi, especially, is to offer the five daily prayers in accordance with the commandment of God Almighty and His Messenger. We have promised that if we come to the Bai'at, we will do so. We, the Ansar, will especially do so, because we have announced that we will become helpers so that we can spread this message to the world and so that we can also train ourselves and our progeny. Similarly, we should not only offer the five daily prayers, rather we should also pay attention towards the Tahajjud prayer.

The Holy Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said that to leave Salat brings a person closer to Shirk and Kufr. Therefore, look at this and assess. If we were to ask some people, they would say that they offer four daily prayers, but not the five daily prayers. They would admit this in front of me as well. The Holy Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said that to leave Salat brings a person closer to Shirk and Kufr. We should assess whether we are leaving Salat and becoming engulfed in the wrath of Allah and the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. Thus, this is a matter of great fear. The Holy Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said that on the Day of Judgment, the first thing that will be accounted for by people is Salat. If this account is correct, then it will be successful and we will attain salvation. If this account is incorrect, then it will be unsuccessful and we will remain in the abyss. What expectations has the Promised Messiah, on whom peace, placed for us and what do we and you desire from us?

The Power of Tahajjud Prayer

Hazrat Bilal, may Allah be pleased with him, has narrated that the Holy Prophet, on whom be peace, once said that you should offer Tahajjud prayer because it has been the practice of the righteous people of the past and it is a means of attaining the nearness of God. This practice prevents one from committing sins, eliminates evil and protects one from physical ailments. There are spiritual ailments as well as physical ailments. So, how many benefits does this have? A person who offers Tahajjud prayer also prevents one from committing sins. This practice not only prevents evil but also eliminates them and also protects a person from physical ailments. These days, doctors also prove this fact and believe that those who wake up early in the morning to offer Tahajjud prayer, they are less likely to have a heart attack. When they offer the Fajr prayer in the morning and do exercise, their health improves. A person should be given the same age as God Almighty, but at the very least, one should lead a healthy life.

What does the Promised Messiah, on whom peace be, want from us? The Promised Messiah, on whom be peace, said that our Jama'at should make Tahajjud prayer compulsory. Those who do not offer Tahajjud prayer much should offer only two rak'ahs because they will be given the opportunity to pray. A special effect is achieved in the prayers of this time because it is a result of true pain and passion. How can a person wake up from a sleepless night until there is no special pain in his heart? How can a person who has slept peacefully wake up? Only when there is pain will he wake up and when there is pain, he will pray to God Almighty and then God Almighty will accept his prayers. Thus, waking up at this time is a form of pain which results in a state of exhaustion and exhaustion in prayer and this exhaustion and exhaustion leads to the acceptance of prayer. This is also necessary in order to walk on the path of good deeds.

Durood and Istighfar

Similarly, one should pay attention to sending salutations. I have drawn special attention towards this. It is also necessary for us to turn towards God Almighty in light of the current state of the world and to pay special attention towards sending salutations.

God Almighty states in the Holy Qur'an that Surely, Allah and His angels send blessings and salutations upon the Prophet. That is, God Almighty and His angels send blessings and salutations upon the Prophet. O ye who believe! You should also send salutations and salutations upon him. Hazrat Abdullah, may Allah be pleased with him, has narrated that the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, said, When you hear the call to prayer of a Mu'azzin, you should also repeat the words that he says and then send salutations upon me. Whosoever sends salutations upon me, God Almighty will bestow ten times His mercy upon him. Thus, one should pay special attention towards sending salutations. As I have said, one should pay special attention towards sending salutations in light of the current state of the world. This is how we can pass through difficult times.

It is also necessary for an Ahmadi to regularly perform Istighfar. I have mentioned this a few months ago that we should pay special attention to this. We should recite the Istighfar along with the Durood. The Ansar should become a model for this. In fact, it is important that not only the Ansar, but also the people of the homes should pay more attention to Durood and Istighfar. The Holy Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, states, that one who constantly recites the Istighfar, Allah the Almighty creates a path for him to overcome all difficulties and through every difficulty, He creates a path for him to attain success and grants him sustenance through those paths which he cannot even imagine.

Responsibilities of Ansarullah

To follow all the commandments which are not contrary to the Shariah, or the laws of the government. Not to be overcome by selfish passions is a fundamental matter which an Ahmadi should bear in mind. Especially those who declare that they are the helpers of the Promised Messiah, and that they are the Ansarullah, you should be mindful of the fact that you should never act in such a manner which would manifest selfish passions. Look at this and assess whether this standard is established within you. If not, then we need to pay great attention towards this.

Then for an Ahmadi, for someone who has taken the oath of allegiance, for someone who has fulfilled the rights of the oath of allegiance, it is necessary that he serves mankind and protects them from harm. It is not just that harm should not be inflicted upon them, rather it is necessary to protect them from harm. Muslims should especially protect them from harm. These days, the conditions of the world, especially the Muslim world, also require this and their sympathy requires this.

The condition of the oath of allegiance also requires that we should pray for them and that God Almighty have mercy on them. May God Almighty remove the afflictions that they are facing and may they walk on the right path and may they accept the Imam of the age so that their worldly afflictions are removed and may they become those who are in the presence of God Almighty in the hereafter. Thus, we should pay special attention to this and should pray for this.

Humility and Steadfastness

This is also a very great attribute and we also take an oath to adopt humility and meekness. The Promised Messiah, on whom be peace, states, O friends, hold this principle in high regard. Treat every nation with humility and meekness. Humility increases wisdom and meekness leads to deep thoughts. A person who does not adopt this method is not one of us. If someone does not bear the abuse of the opponents of our Jama'at and is not steadfast, then he has the right to seek justice. However, it is not appropriate for him to act harshly and to create a corrupt person. This is a will which we have made for our Jama'at and we are displeased with such a person and we expel him from our Jama'at who does not act upon this.

The Promised Messiah, on whom be peace, has said that we should please God Almighty and for this we need sincerity, truthfulness and loyalty. We should not limit our efforts to mere words and words. We have to show loyalty. When we please God Almighty, then He also bestows His blessings and opens the doors of His blessings upon us. The Promised Messiah, on whom be peace, has also drawn our attention that this is also a fundamental condition for an Ahmadi. If you have taken the Bai'at, then you must also adhere to the fact that you will always abstain from all forms of incitement and you will completely accept the Holy Qur'an. Thus, it is necessary to abstain from incitement.

May God Almighty enable this and enable every Ansar to become true Ansar. May the slogan of Nahn-o-Ansarullah be such a slogan that fulfils the mission of the Promised Messiah, on whom be peace. May every member of the Ansar become a beneficial being for the Jama'at and may they become those who take care of their progeny so that they remain steadfast on the path of the progress of the Jama'at. May God Almighty enable all of us to do so. Please join me in silent prayer. Ameen.
